A Glimpse at OpenAI’s “Screenless” Future

CEO Sam Altman says OpenAI’s upcoming pocket-sized, screenless AI device will feel “so simple” that people will be surprised. Co-designed with Jony Ive, the still-under-wraps prototype aims to strip away modern tech’s noisy distractions and deliver a calmer, more contextual experience. Opus 4.5 Raises the Bar

Anthropic has released Opus 4.5, the final and most advanced model in its 4.5 lineup. The model delivers state-of-the-art performance across major benchmarks, becoming the first to score over 80% on SWE-Bench verified. It also introduces major memory upgrades enabling “infinite-length conversations” and stronger agentic workflows, alongside wider availability of Claude for Chrome and Claude for Excel. Opus 4.5 goes head-to-head with other new frontier models, including OpenAI’s newly released GPT 5.1 and Google’s Gemini 3 (see Anthropic’s announcement).

Amazon Pours $50B into Government-Grade AI Compute

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a massive $50 billion investment to build high-performance AI infrastructure tailored specifically for U.S. government agencies. The buildout will add 1.3 gigawatts of compute and expand federal access to tools like Amazon SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, and Anthropic’s Claude. AWS plans to break ground on the new data centers in 2026 as part of its long-running push to support classified and secure government workloads (see Amazon’s announcement).
