Try Sora’s Viral Video Generator — Free via Bing

Microsoft has launched Bing Video Creator in its mobile app, giving users free access to OpenAI’s powerful Sora video model for the first time. Anyone logged into a Microsoft account can generate up to 10 AI videos at no cost before needing to spend Microsoft Rewards points. Videos are limited to 5 seconds and generated in a vertical 9:16 format, ideal for mobile viewing. While standard mode can take a few hours to process, Bing also offers a “fast” mode designed to shorten wait times — though it’s not always instant. The tool is currently mobile-only, with a desktop version and horizontal video support on the way (see Microsoft Bing’s announcement).

A ‘Godfather’ of AI Launches LawZero to Curb Rogue AI

Turing Award winner Yoshua Bengio is launching LawZero, a nonprofit AI safety lab dedicated to developing safer AI systems. The initiative has already raised $30 million from backers including Skype founding engineer Jaan Tallinn and former CEO of Google Eric Schmidt. Bengio says the lab was created in response to alarming behaviors in advanced AI systems — such as deception, goal misalignment, and even self-preservation tactics like code-hiding and manipulation. A vocal advocate for regulation, Bengio has also backed California’s AI safety bill SB-1047, warning that companies like OpenAI and Google may not be putting safety first (see Bengio's announcement).

Amazon MGM Studios is reportedly developing a film titled Artificial that will dramatize the whirlwind five-day saga in November 2023 when Sam Altman was fired and then rehired as CEO of OpenAI. Luca Guadagnino is in talks to direct, with Andrew Garfield potentially playing Altman. The screenplay, written by Saturday Night Live's Simon Rich, suggests the film may lean into comedy, capturing the absurdity of the events. The cast may also include Monica Barbaro as Mira Murati, OpenAI’s interim CEO during the upheaval, and Yura Borisov as Ilya Sutskever, OpenAI’s co-founder and Chief Scientist (read more).
